PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Slide gate plates are the critical refractory components in the ladle and tundish slide gate systems that control, start, and stop the flow of molten steel. They slide against each other under hydraulic pressure, requiring extreme dimensional accuracy, high thermal shock resistance, and resistance to both steel erosion and slag attack. Service life is measured in heats — a premium grade lasting 20+ heats vs 8–10 for standard.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Inspect slide gate frame and cassette for squareness before fitting plates

Ensure plate seating surface is clean and flat — any gap causes steel leakage

Apply thin layer of refractory mortar or anti-oxidation paste to back of plate
- 4
Preheat assembled slide gate to 100–150°C before first heat (electric pre-heater preferred)
- 5
Check plate wear gauge after each heat — replace when bore erosion exceeds limit
- 6
Store slide plates in dry conditions — moisture causes cracking during first heat
