Shanker Agencies Private Limited (SAPL) was founded in 1980 in Shahdara — then, as now, one of Delhi's most industrially active commercial corridors — and has been headed by Mohan Taneja since its inception. The founding vision was simple: provide India's growing industrial sector with quality refractory materials and honest service.
SAPL began with local marketing, supplying general refractories to copper smelters, glass units, and small foundries around Delhi NCR. As India's industrial landscape evolved, so did we — shifting focus to steel, cement, aluminium and power plant customers across the country, and progressing from general refractories to premium grades to branded products from the world's leading manufacturers.
What made SAPL different from the beginning was a commitment to understanding the customer's problem, not just selling them a product. Mohan Taneja spent time in plants, understanding furnace conditions, failure modes, and operational pressures before recommending materials. That practice became the culture of the company — and was reinforced when Rahul Taneja (second generation) joined as Director in 2018, adding modern sales engineering and digital capabilities to the family business.
Today, we are an authorized dealer of CUMI, Crown Ceramics, Divine Cerawool and Mahakoshal Refractories, and a trusted supply partner for TRL Krosaki, IFGL and Calderys. We also manufacture custom refractory shapes, precast components, and specialty products — giving us the engineering depth and end-to-end capability that large steel plants, cement groups, and petrochemical companies expect from their refractory partner.

Our Journey
45 YEARS OF MILESTONES
1980
Mohan Taneja starts Shanker Agencies in Shahdara, Delhi. Early work is local: supplying general refractories to copper smelters, glass units and small furnace operators in and around Delhi NCR.
1990
Focus shifts from copper and glass to India's steel re-rolling mills and forging units. First long-term national supply contracts are signed.
2000
Product range expands from general refractories to branded castables, mortars and insulating bricks. SAPL starts serving the cement and power plant segments.
2005
ISO 9001 certification completed. The quality systems we had been running for years were finally put on paper.
2010
Appointed as supply partner for CUMI Super Refractories. This was a turning point: the business moved from trading general refractories to stocking and supporting branded, premium products.
2015
First exports to the GCC region. Calderys and TRL Krosaki added to the brand portfolio.
2018
Rahul Taneja (second generation) joined SAPL as Director, bringing sales engineering, digital systems and a sharper focus on steel, cement, aluminium and power plant customers.
2020
Added IFGL flow control products, Divine Cerawool ceramic fibre, Crown Ceramics and Mahakoshal Refractories to the line-up. Started serving ASEAN markets.
2026
Serving 500+ industrial clients across 50+ countries with seven brand partnerships: CUMI, Calderys, TRL Krosaki, IFGL, Mahakoshal, Divine Cerawool and Crown Ceramics. On-site engineering help across steel, cement, aluminium, glass, petrochemical and power industries.
