GUNNING MATERIALS
Pneumatically applied repair mixes, minimise downtime with in-situ hot repairs
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Gunning materials are specially formulated to be applied by pneumatic gunning equipment, typically while the vessel is still hot. They are the fastest way to extend vessel campaign life by repairing eroded zones without a full re-lining shutdown, saving significant production time and cost.

INSTALLATION NOTES
- 1
Ensure gunning machine is calibrated for correct air pressure (3–5 bar) and water addition
- 2
Clean eroded surface, remove loose material and wash with air jet before gunning
- 3
Apply in thin layers (25–50 mm per pass) to prevent slumping on vertical surfaces
- 4
Allow each layer to set before applying the next
- 5
Water ring position is critical, adjust to achieve optimal wet/dry gunning consistency
- 6
Preheat repair area to 200–400°C before gunning on cold substrate

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Gunning mass is a refractory mix designed to be sprayed pneumatically onto a hot or cold lining. It is the standard tool for hot repairs of furnace working linings, allowing localised wear to be patched without taking the furnace fully out of service. Used routinely in steel ladles, EAF, BOF, cement kilns, induction furnaces and torpedo cars.
