Premium monolithics with <1.5% cement for the most demanding high-wear zones
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Ultra low cement castables contain only 0.5–2% hydraulic cement, relying instead on reactive alumina and microsilica for densification. This produces the highest hot strength, lowest porosity, and best slag penetration resistance of any castable grade. Specified for the most critical lining zones in blast furnace troughs, EAF deltas, and continuous casting ladles.

Strictly follow manufacturer water addition (typically 3.5–4.5%) — excess water destroys properties

Use forced-action or planetary mixer — drum mixer not suitable for ULCC

Vibration is critical: 30–45 seconds per layer using 25–40 mm needle vibrator

Extended curing: minimum 48 hrs covered before dry-out begins

Dry-out is slower than LCC: 10°C/hr to 110°C, hold 24 hrs; then 15°C/hr stages to operating temp
