INSULATING FIRE BRICKS (IFB)
Lightweight backup insulation reducing heat loss and energy bills
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Insulating fire bricks (IFBs) are manufactured from refractory aggregates with carefully controlled porosity. Their low bulk density and low thermal conductivity make them ideal for backup linings and furnace insulation where minimising heat storage and heat loss is critical to energy efficiency.

INSTALLATION NOTES
- 1
Handle with care — lower crushing strength than dense bricks
- 2
Use lightweight insulating mortar or colloidal silica bonded mortar
- 3
Never expose directly to liquid metal or slag — always use with working lining
- 4
Dry-out schedule: ambient to 200°C at 10°C/hr, hold 4 hrs, then proceed slowly
WHY BUY FROM SHANKER AGENCIES
IFBs paired with a working lining can reduce furnace shell temperatures by 60–80°C and cut energy consumption by up to 30%. Shanker Agencies engineers can calculate the optimal lining thickness for your application.
