PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Taphole filling mass is packed around the taphole sleeve and free-flow areas of blast furnaces and torpedo ladle cars, where the combination of iron/slag erosion, thermal cycling and mechanical wear from tap-to-tap operation demands a chemistry tougher than a general-purpose ramming mass. A ZrO₂-Cr₂O₃ based mass resists this erosion far better than a plain alumina or silica fill, extending the interval between full taphole clay relines.
