Dense vitrified bricks with 97–99%+ acid resistance for chemical vessels and reactors
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Acid proof bricks are manufactured from selected clays fired to vitrification, producing a product with very low water absorption (0.1–6%), high density, and excellent chemical resistance to virtually all inorganic and organic acids except hydrofluoric acid (HF). They are bonded with acid-resistant cements (furan, phenolic, or potassium silicate based) to form acid-proof linings for chemical storage tanks, reaction vessels, absorption towers, and effluent channels.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Surface preparation: concrete or steel substrate must be clean, dry, and free of oil/grease

Apply primer coat, epoxy primer for steel, concrete primer for concrete substrate

Use appropriate acid-resistant cement: furan resin (best acid resistance), phenolic resin, or potassium silicate

Bed mortar thickness: 3–6 mm, applied to both brick and substrate (buttered joint)

Joint width: 3–6 mm, fully filled with acid-resistant mortar

Curing: furan resin mortars, 24 hrs at 25°C before any chemical exposure; heat curing improves performance

Test before commissioning: hydraulic leak test or chemical spot test
