Installation notes

  1. 1Self-flow grade needs approximately 6.9% water and places by self-flow or mild vibration, suited to congested launder and box shapes
  2. 2High-strength grade needs approximately 5–5.5% water and is vibro cast, traditional cast or pump cast
  3. 3Tri-Mor Alcast Extra HS needs approximately 5.0–5.8% water by weight (1.25–1.45 litres per 25kg) and is placed by vibrocasting
  4. 4Material requirement is roughly 2800 kg/m³ for the self-flow grade, 2900 kg/m³ for the high-strength grade, and 2900 kg/m³ for Tri-Mor Alcast Extra HS, use these for take-off quantities
  5. 5Permanent linear change stays within −0.3% at 816°C and ±0.5% at 1200°C for the LCC grades; Tri-Mor Alcast Extra HS runs nil at 110°C widening to ±1.5% at 1400°C, allow for joint movement rather than expecting zero change
  6. 6Dry out on a controlled schedule; trapped moisture in a dense low cement castable causes explosive spalling
  7. 7Never patch an aluminium contact lining with a silica-bearing material, it will be reduced by the melt
